The challenge was to stop or decrease distracted driving through design. In this fictitious project, the client is Snapchat. After several lawsuits and complaints about the dangers of snapping while driving, including the mph filter, I created a Snapchat campaign to stop distracted driving using the popular platform.
A driver looking down at their phone for 3 seconds at a speed of 55mph, will drive the length of a football field blind. An accident can happen in a snap, which is the inspiration behind the campaign logo “It Happens in a Snap.” With a simple design that utilizes recognizable Snapchat features turned to red and harsh copy-writing, the campaign was built out to raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving that include advertisements seen on and off the road. Additionally, the campaign would employ GPS location and speed technology to block the use of the platform while driving.
